MATTHEW 28 - The Resurrection Narrative
The stone placed in front of the tomb of Jesus seemed to be an immovable barrier, a massive 1- to 2-ton stone that had been sealed by Rome itself. It was a symbol of the finality of death, until…
An earthquake.
An angel.
And a stone was rolled away.
The great barrier between life and death was tossed aside by the angel with apparent ease, no sign of struggle. After tossing it aside, the angel sat on top of that stone as he announced, “He is not here. He is risen, just as He said.”
In that moment, the sign and seal of death and defeat were flipped on their heads, instead becoming a seat of victory and triumph.
The stone became a throne from which the resurrection of the King was announced!
All Hail King Jesus!
It is finished!
