Digital Babylon: The World Changed While You Were Scrolling
We live in a Modern Day Babylon and don't even know it.
DIGITAL BABYLON IS HERE!
I remember exactly where I was on New Year’s Eve, 1999.
Like millions of others, I was watching the clock tick down to midnight, half-expecting the Y2K bug to plunge us into digital darkness. I had done minimal preparations in the event that the entire global supply chain came to a halt. I had a gas grill with a side burner, a couple of cases of water, flashlights, extra batteries, and stocked up on Spaghetti-os. Needless to say, I was not nearly as prepared as some neighbors who built wells in their backyard, walls around their property, purchased generators, firearms and plenty of Military MREs (Meals Ready to Eat). I was ready for a temporary bump in the road, while they were ready for the Zombie Apocalypse.
When the power stayed on, we all breathed a sigh of relief and toasted to the new millennium. I am sure my neighbors had to be a little disappointed though after having spent so much money and time preparing to hunker down for the end of civilization.
